- Firmino, Kane, Mahrez were in the running for the accolade

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has been named the best footballer in the Premier League for the month of December.

The Egyptian scored five goals and provided two assists in seven games for Jurgen Klopp's side as they cemented their fourth place spot on the log.

This is the second consecutive month that the footballer has won the award having been named the best in the league for the month of November.

Salah is the Premier League‘s second-top goalscorer, with his tally of 17 one behind Harry Kane, though he has missed the past couple of matches—one league, one FA Cup—through injury.

Just last week, the 25-year-old won the CAF African Player of the Year Award.

Salah beat off competition from teammate Firmino, Tottenham's Harry Kane and fellow African Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City and Algeria for the award.
