Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has been named the Player of the Month for December, the official Twitter account confirmed.
After scooping a huge 85% of the fans vote, beating out competition from both Juan Mata and Phil Jones, it was the 24-year-old attacker who came out on top to win his first Player of the Month trophy at Old Trafford.
The Warrington-born-winger has scored seven goals in his last nine outings – an incredible tally for a player who hasn’t started every game in that time. It’s not only that, though, it’s when the goals have been scored.
It’s not only that, though, it’s when the goals have been scored. Lingard found the back of the net twice against Arsenal to help us to victory, as well as scoring two goals against Burnley to bring us back from a 2-0 deficit.
His all-round play has greatly improved, and I’d argue that his movement is the best within the current crop of players that Jose Mourinho has at his disposal.
It has taken him a while to find his feet, but it finally looks as though the Englishman is proving many doubters wrong, and hopefully, this is just the start.
